Communication Across the Curriculum Program

The Communication Across the Curriculum (CAC) Program helps students and faculty understand the role of writing and speaking in their academic and professional lives. Both on its website (https://www.iit.edu/cac) and through the Illinois Tech Communications Lab (located on the upper level of Galvin Library), the CAC provides assistance in communication skills for academic inquiry, professional research, and the workplace. The CAC assists with developing materials relevant to written, oral, electronic, and interpersonal communication in discipline-specific courses, particularly communication-intensive courses (C-courses). The CAC also periodically reviews all C-courses in each academic unit to ensure that they meet the university's standards for such courses. In addition, we offer group workshops and one-on-one assistance with communication-related assignments, presentations, writing projects, and publications.  Finally, the CAC also administers the university's Basic Writing Proficiency requirement.
