Humanities (HUM)

Required of all teaching assistants at Illinois Tech, HUM 501 introduces students to mandatory university policies, on-campus resources, classroom and course management techniques, and strategies and best practices for effectively working with students and faculty in order to fulfill teaching assistant responsibilities and best support student retention at the university.

This course helps prepare teaching assistants for their duties. TAs read and discuss articles sensitizing them to issues attendant to effective teaching. They practice teaching skills and techniques needed as they relate to undergraduates in their specific disciplines.
