Residence Requirement

Degree-seeking graduate students are required to register every fall and spring semester unless they are granted an official leave of absence from Academic Affairs (see the Leaves and Withdrawals section of the Graduate Catalog for more information). In addition, doctoral students must spend a minimum of one year of full-time study enrolled at the university. Students should consult the definitions of a full-time student and credit requirements listed within the Registration section of the Graduate Catalog. That year must occur within six years prior to awarding the degree. Some academic units have academic residence requirements for master’s degrees as well.
