Group One Courses for the program are subjects in intellectual property law such as LAW 416 - Trademarks and Unfair Competition (3 cr.), LAW 406 - Patent Law (3 cr.), and LAW 405 - Copyright Law (3 cr.), which are generally three-credit hour courses. Other courses in subjects focused on intellectual property law which are on-offer at the law school from time to time may also be used to satisfy the six-credit hour minimum requirement of courses in intellectual property subjects.

Group Two Courses in the program are courses in subjects in international and comparative law such as LAW 383 - International Law (3 cr.), LAW 430 Comparative Law (3 cr.), and LAW 387 - International Business Transactions (3 cr.), each of which is three credit hours. Note that LAW 236 International Intellectual Property Law (3 cr.) is a separate and independent course requirement for the program and this course cannot be used to also satisfy either the Group One Course requirements or the Group Two Course requirements. Other courses in subjects on international and comparative law topics which are on-offer at the law school from time to time may be used to satisfy the three-credit minimum requirement for Group Two Courses.

Elective Courses are any law courses in which the student is qualified to enroll, e.g., student meets prerequisites, etc., and which are approved for registration by the student's academic program advisor. Students in the program often select elective courses to (a) satisfy state requirements to sit for a bar examination, and/or (b) to obtain knowledge related to specific career objectives.
