Certificate in Building Commissioning
The Certificate in Building Commissioning is a preparatory coursework-only non-degree program oriented toward students who wish to gain knowledge and practice in building commissioning. Building commissioning is an integrated process of quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) to ensure building systems, including envelope, mechanical, electrical, lighting, plumbing, fire protection, acoustical, and controls, perform interactively and according to the design intent, and ensuring that building operators are prepared to operate and maintain its systems and equipment. This program helps prepare students for the Building Commissioning Professional (BCxP) Certification Exam. The program is designed to be taken standalone for gaining introductory knowledge or in preparation for gaining advanced knowledge in buildings and their systems via a subsequent master's program (e.g. the Master of Engineering in Architectural Engineering or Energy Systems Engineering programs). The program combines courses in building science, building commissioning, and project management/commissioning.
